Description: In part 4, more outlandish theories of suspended animation during certain phases of the molt process are discussed. None of my theories have ever been proven. Please be advised that as of this posting in 2010 my views and philosophies regarding the cicada ecdysis process may have changed. Keep in mind that these videos are now 6 years old when I first started to study cicadas.

Description: In part 3 the cicada's nymph skin has split dorsally down the mesonotum and the new fully formed adult is starting to emerge. At this point we discover the species as T. canicularis based on morphology.
