Tibicen lyricen cicada in Millbury, Ma.

My name is Patty I live in Grafton, MA. I was leaving my work place last night in Millbury, MA. She lives pretty much in the woods, and on her sunroom screen was this cicada. What kind is it? What a beautiful specimen. Here are a few pictures of it.

Hello,

You are correct in that this specimen is indeed a female cicada. It is from the species known as Tibicen lyricen. One of New Englands two-most common species of cicadas. The black pronotal collar is a dead give-way amongst other smaller morphological features.

Thanks very much for sharing!
