Tibicen superbus Cicada in Austin, TX

I believe its a Tibicen superbus, that I netted off the low lying branch of a tree. Its a female, though I also caught a male, which is still in the process of having its wings spread, which flew into a sliding glass door, and was stunned long enough for me to grab it.

Hey Sam,

Thanks for the cool photos of two Tibicen superbus cicadas. Your sighting will be added to our distribution database. I like the spread and pin job you did on the male cicada. If you see any other species of cicadas in your area, remember to grab a photo and please report it.

Thanks!
